Individual Lessons

I conduct individual lessons from Perth Yoga Studio and the Ramana Wellness Centre.

Lessons cost £50 and last 60 minutes.

Prior to your first lesson, I typically like to arrange a call to build a better understanding of you and the nature of your request.

If you have any questions regarding one-to-one sessions or would like to discuss in further detail, please get in touch.

To maximise benefits from individual lessons, I recommend having them in conjunction with group lessons.

About Functional Integration®

Individual lessons, known as Functional Integration, are uniquely crafted to address your specific movement-related needs and requests in the moment.

It begins with a conversation.

Together, we’ll discuss your request, bringing to the foreground how it manifests in your daily life. Whether you’re dealing with pain, recovering from an injury, seeking better posture, refining a skill, or simply improving the quality of your movement, the possibilities are endless. The focus is on understanding your request within the context of your life.

Functional Integration is not a therapy.

Rather than viewing you as a collection of symptoms, this approach sees you as a whole, dynamic human-being with the capacity to learn, grow, and change. It’s centred in learning—learning about how you move, how your patterns and habits may be contributing to your difficulties, and how you can learn to create more efficient and effective ways of being.

What You Can Expect

Once we’ve clarified your request, you’ll typically be invited to lie down on a low, padded table, fully clothed. Depending on what feels most appropriate for your comfort and the nature of your request, the lesson could also take place in sitting or standing. We’ll make any necessary adjustments to ensure your comfort throughout the session, including using additional props and supports.

At this point, our verbal conversation shifts to a conversation through touch.

Using gentle and attentive touch, I’ll explore and reflect back to you your current movement preferences—where your movement flows freely and where it encounters restriction. You’ll be encouraged to notice these sensations throughout.

As the lesson unfolds, I’ll guide your movement towards new possibilities, encouraging more integrated and coordinated patterns that distribute effort throughout your entire self. This distribution of effort is often experienced as a sensation of weightlessness and a deep sense of relaxation.

By the end of the lesson, you may notice improvements in both mental and physical well-being, accompanied by better posture and breathing, and a greater sense of ease, efficiency, and awareness throughout your entire self.

We’ll revisit your initial request, reflecting on how it has been addressed. At this stage, additional suggestions may be offered to facilitate a long-term change, helping you to integrate these new patterns beyond the table and into your daily life.
