Welcome to Movement Improvement
Learn how increasing your awareness and improving the quality of your movement can help reduce pain, aid in recovery, and enhance skill no matter your age or condition.
You might be a teacher, student, therapist, business professional, musician, performer, retiree, in between roles — movement plays a crucial part in all our lives. Whatever your profession, whatever your background, movement connects us all. You may be experiencing pain, discomfort, be looking to enhance your skills, or simply be curious to try something new. Improving the quality of how you move can lead to significant and surprising improvements in every aspect of your life.
“Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.”
– Moshe Feldenkrais, Embodied Wisdom–Collected Papers, 2010
Meet Darren
Hello, I’m Darren. I’m a certified and insured Feldenkrais® Practitioner and a member of the Feldenkrais Guild UK.
My practice is based in Perth, Scotland, where I offer group classes, workshops, and one-to-one sessions. I also teach online, providing accessible ways for anyone to experience this work.
My journey into the Feldenkrais Method® began by chance during my undergraduate studies at music college. It was there that I experienced its profoundly powerful effect on my voice, movement, and thinking. Since then, I’ve been infinitely fascinated by the potential and application of this method to enrich every aspect of life.
I have a background in drama, education and performing arts, I have dedicated myself to exploring and expanding the capability of the human voice beyond boundaries and traditional beliefs. My work with actors, singers, and voice users has been deeply influenced by my Feldenkrais® practice.
You can find out more about my introduction to the Feldenkrais Method® here.
About the Feldenkrais Method®
Developed by Dr Moshe Feldenkrais (1904–1984), the Feldenkrais Method® is a holistic educational approach focused on learning, movement, and self-awareness. Through the use of slow, gentle and attentive movements, it harnesses the brain’s incredible ability to learn, adapt, and reorganise itself over time. By increasing awareness of habitual patterns, the Feldenkrais Method® encourages both physical and mental flexibility, helping individuals move beyond ingrained habits and achieve greater comfort and coordination in their daily lives.
Two ways to experience the Feldenkrais Method®:
Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) - A group class where participants are verbally guided through a gentle series of movements designed to explore more efficient ways of moving.
Functional Integration® (FI) - A hands-on, individualised lesson, tailored specifically to the needs and request of the participant.
Feldenkrais® For...
The Feldenkrais Method® invites you to explore your process, it focuses on how you do something rather than what you do. This makes the approach highly versatile. While many seek Feldenkrais® for pain relief or injury recovery, others seek it out to learn how to refine their skills—whether they are performers, musicians, or athletes. Since movement is integral to every aspect of our lives, enhancing the way we move can enhance everything we do.
"There is no limit in the improvement of movement" - Moshe Feldenkrais
